Camberwell Floorworld Fills the Ute for Foodbank Victoria This Winter

This past winter, the team at Camberwell Floorworld turned the showroom car park into a collection point for Foodbank Victoria, asking the local community to help “fill the ute” with non-perishable food donations throughout June.

A simple idea with a local focus

The concept was straightforward: bring a donation of non-perishable food or pantry staples into the Camberwell Road showroom any time during June, and the team would take care of the rest. Every Friday for the month, the ute was loaded up and driven straight to Foodbank Victoria, ready to go back out to families across the state who needed it.

“We see the same families in our showroom week after week, and we know a lot of them are doing it tough right now,” said Harry McAuliffe, part of the third generation running the family business alongside his father Adam and brother Tom. “This felt like something small we could do that actually makes a difference close to home.”

Tom McAuliffe echoed the sentiment, noting that the drive was as much about the community showing up for each other as it was about the tally of donations. “Camberwell has always supported us, so this is one small way we can support Camberwell back.”

Foodbank Victoria supports tens of thousands of Victorians facing food insecurity every day, and demand has continued to climb. Local drives like this one help keep shelves stocked with the everyday staples that make the biggest difference for families doing it tough over the colder months.
