Emerging Flooring Trends for 2024

Each year brings a slightly different set of priorities to flooring choices, and 2024 was defined by a shift toward earthy tones, genuinely durable synthetics, and wide-format timber. Here’s what stood out in our Camberwell showroom.

Earthy neutrals took over from stark greys

After several years of cool greys dominating carpet choices, 2024 saw a clear shift toward warmer, earthy tones. Bremworth’s Āhuru collection in its Moss colourway was a standout example: a soft, grounded green-grey that suited both heritage homes and newer builds without dating quickly.

Pet-friendly synthetics grew more sophisticated

Households with pets and kids drove strong demand for carpets that combine softness with genuine stain resistance. The Redbook Green Triexta range, particularly its Mountain Chalet fibre, delivered exactly that: a plush, family-friendly carpet with built-in protection against everyday spills and marks.

Wide-plank timber held its dominance

On the hard flooring side, wide-plank formats continued to lead, and the Australian Select Timber GrandOak Monarch Collection was one of the ranges customers gravitated toward most, thanks to its natural grain variation and generous board width that suits Melbourne’s open-plan living spaces.

What these trends tell us

The common thread across all three is authenticity: genuine natural tones, genuine durability, and genuine timber character, rather than anything overly processed or artificial-looking. That’s a trend we expect to keep holding, well beyond any single calendar year.
